Zane – a jaded mercenary, torn by his undeniable desire for Ashlyn and the dark secret that could make her hate him forever.

Delistaire – a malevolent sorcerer driven by an insatiable lust for power.

Shadow Fire – adventure, passion, secrets, and betrayal

As Ashlyn and Zane race to stay one step ahead of the evil lurking in the shadows, their passions are ignited and their bond strengthens. But will they find the relic before Delistaire? Or has their entire quest been orchestrated from the very beginning by a madman in pursuit of ultimate power?

Kimber Leigh Wheaton is a YA/NA author with a soft spot for sweet romance and is a member of Romance Writers of America.

She is married to her soul mate, has a teenage son, and shares her home with three dogs and four cats. No, she doesn’t live on a farm, she just loves animals. Her house is filled with dragons, though she does lament that they are the porcelain, non-flying variety.

Kimber Leigh is addicted to romance, videogames, superheroes, villains, and chocolate—not necessarily in that order. (If she has to choose, she’ll take a chocolate covered superhero!)

Her debut novel, Shadow Fire, is the first book in the Light Chronicles series. Watch for book two, Stolen Moon, a standalone sequel, coming August 2014. Also watch for Tortured Souls, a YA paranormal romance, coming July 14, 2014.

Blog Tour: Son of Set

Son of Set by Kelsey Ketch (Descendants of Isis #2)

Published: May 2nd, 2014
Genre: Upper YA Fantsay
Amazon/Barnes and Noble
“. . . the Sons would never just let him go—alive.”

Seth O’Keefe has broken the laws of his god. He never thought he would sacrifice his own future to protect a Daughter of Isis. But when the Sons of Set discovered Natti is the Secret Keeper, he had no choice. Now, Seth and Natti are on the run from his father, who wants nothing more than to see Seth dead. With no allies, Seth turns to the Daughters of Isis for help, hoping they would protect Natti. But when they meet the Daughters, he discovers a secret that puts both their lives in more danger. Low on options, Seth sees only one possibility for survival. He must help Natti solve an ancient puzzle and find the secret name of Ra.

Natara “Natti” Stone is having a hard time swallowing the truth. She can’t believe what she has learned in the past twenty-four hours: Seth is a Son of Set blessed with charm; she is a Daughter of Isis blessed with a sliver of Ma ‘at; the locket her grandmother gave her holds an ancient Egyptian secret linking to Osiris and Isis. That along with being tortured and brutalized by the Sons of Set, she can hardly hold herself together. Thank God for Seth’s touch! That warm, tingling sensation that drowns it all out. Yet her heart struggles to stay focused. She must quickly embrace her destiny before the secret name of Ra falls into the wrong hands.
Son of Set was a breathtaking, addicting sequel! I adored Kelsey Ketch’s first novel, Daughter of Isis, and I am extremely excited to report that I loved the second book just as much!

The characters are so likable and unique! In the beginning, Natti is shocked and scared after the terrible events in Daughter of Isis. However, she still keeps going and plans to side with the Daughters of Isis against the Sons. I admired her fierceness and determination.

I liked Seth a lot more in this novel. After a lifetime of being taught horrible ideas and lifestyles from his father, Seth is finally realizing how to be a better person. He and Natti made a delightful couple! Also, we make a startling revelation about Seth’s mother that I didn’t see coming!

Finally, I must mention Seth’s father and other villains. There are many chapters devoted to their POVs. Honestly, these chapters were horrifying, cold, and gave me a birds-eye view into our villains scary minds. I applaud the author for creating three dimensional characters.

Son of Set is a wild race infused with romance, well-researched Egyptian mythology, fast paced adventure, and awesome writing. I can’t recommend this series highly enough! I guarantee you will stay up until late at night to finish... Yes, I am speaking from experience.

Review: The Falconer

The Falconer by Elizabeth May
Publication: May 6th, 2014
Genre: Fantasy/Steam punk
Amazon/Barnes and Noble
Heiress. Debutant. Murderer. A new generation of heroines has arrived.

Edinburgh, Scotland, 1844

Lady Aileana Kameron, the only daughter of the Marquess of Douglas, was destined for a life carefully planned around Edinburgh’s social events – right up until a faery killed her mother.

Now it’s the 1844 winter season and Aileana slaughters faeries in secret, in between the endless round of parties, tea and balls. Armed with modified percussion pistols and explosives, she sheds her aristocratic facade every night to go hunting. She’s determined to track down the faery who murdered her mother, and to destroy any who prey on humans in the city’s many dark alleyways.

But the balance between high society and her private war is a delicate one, and as the fae infiltrate the ballroom and Aileana’s father returns home, she has decisions to make. How much is she willing to lose – and just how far will Aileana go for revenge?
The Falconer was amazing! I was so wrapped up in the story from the first page that I flat refused to get off the floor to do anything productive. (I often read on my bedroom floor. Don’t judge.)

First, let me mention the wonderful cast. The characters in The Falconer blew me away. Aileana Kameron, our main character, is feisty, smart, and ferocious. She is the ultimate fighting, blood-thirsty protagonist. Also, she is a master weapon designer!

During the day, she tries to be the perfect debutante. She goes to all the boring balls, deals with a father that looks right through her, and hangs out with her BFF (who is really awesome). However, Aileana is thirsty for blood and hunts the fae every night (even at balls) after her mother’s murder. With all the social outings and hunting, she never has a dull moment!

After Aileana, the second most intriguing character is Kiaran MacKay. Kiaran is Aileana’s mysterious fae trainer. They hunt at night together. However, of course, Kiaran is harboring major secrets... I’m still not sure if I can fully trust him. Now, my favorite character, was... Derrick! Derrick is the hilarious pixie who craves honey. His antics never failed to make me laugh. Also, he is such a good friend to AiIeana. It was heartwarming!

The plot and gorgeous setting kept my nose glued to The Falconer’s pages. The author definitely knows how to write a believable and complex story and world. I can’t not mention the ending. How? Why? What? What happened? The ending just abruptly happened in the middle of an important scene!!! I think the publishers forgot to insert the last few chapters... :)

Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend The Falconer to fans of Fantasy, Paranormal, or even Historical Fiction. *Round of applause for this book*
